Core De Force: Round One Results

Well, after 30 days of throwing punches and kicks, my FINAL Core De Force results are in --- and I could NOT be more excited and pleased! 

I will be the first to admit that I am NOT a fan of cardio --- I love to lift weights, I love to strength train. So I was a bit apprehensive about this program. But I really needed something to dial back in my nutrition and get my pants fitting the correct way. So I committed to the 30 days and I am SO glad that I did!!

Round One Core De Force Results

In 30 days, I lost a total of 3.4 pounds and 7.2 inches!! One inch in my waist, one inch in my hips, 1.5 inches off of both my thighs!

Pure excitement to be able to get my leg up this high!

All of my trouble areas were tackled and toned during this program; and it's safe to say that I am head over heels, grow old together in love with Core De Force! It was EXACTLY what I needed to get back on track and really learn to love ME again.

There are a few things that I learned during this past month and I am so thankful to have learned some lessons.

1. Stay off the scale! My weight loss was pretty low; but my pictures and measurements tell a totally different story of success. If you're using the scale only to measure your results STOP. take some before pictures and measurements and then commit to doing a program, start to finish. I promise you that the results will happen.

2. When you don't feel like working out, give it five minutes. And usually --- I ended up killing my workout! It's like anything --- I was committed --- so I didn't let excuses get in the way. If I hadn't worked out and my kids just went to bed, I pushed play. Every. Day.

3. SET GOALS. I had a goal to get every workout in and not have to play catch up --- and I did it! I pushed myself harder than I ever did and I am so glad that I did! :)

4. Celebrate EVERY victory, no matter how small. I made it a point to focus on ONE thing daily that I improved on or that I did well. Some days, it was the fact that I drank all my water. Other days it was that I did a workout a million times better. When I took time to focus on the GOOD, the bad stuff wasn't even relevant anymore.

5. TRUST the process. There were days when I thought I was eating too much or not enough or was just frustrated. But I TRUSTED that the creators of this program knew what they were doing; and they DID. I had amazing success and results because ti was patient. I TRUSTED the system.

6. Your nutrition MATTERS. You can kill yourself in a workout --- but if you don't really take the time to fuel your body the right way, you'll see NO change in your body. Don't view food as your enemy. It is there to help you get amazing results and you NEED it to get results. So open up that nutrition guide and dial. it. in.

Overall, I am ECSTATIC about Core De Force and I cannot wait to really see my results after the NEXT 30 days (which started already!)

Crockpot Fish Tacos

I have found a new love for fish --- fish tacos that is!! <3 br="" nbsp="">
Anytime it is on a menu when we go to a restaurant, I usually end up with it on my plate and it is always delicious; it never disappoints!

When I found this recipe for fish tacos IN THE CROCKPOT I just knew I needed to give it a go; because while I love me some fish tacos, I still hadn't been adventurous enough to make them myself.

And let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint! 


  • 6 pieces frozen tilapia
  • 1 large can of diced tomatoes, drained
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • salt to taste
  1. Put in crockpot in the order listed above, fish in first.
  2. Cook on low for 4 hours.
In the picture I had this with no taco shell topped with cole slaw, avocado, fresh cilantro, and fresh lime juice!

You can also serve in taco shells.

Pumpkin Pie Shakeology

I mean, let's be realistic --- fall isn't fall and Thanksgiving isn't Thanksgiving without a little pumpkin pie, amiright?

Well, for me, I literally have NO self control with sweets or salty junk food --- I will eat an entire pie, an entire half gallon of ice cream, or an entire bag of chips in ONE sitting and not even think twice about it.

Well, not anymore! :)

I know to not even keep that stuff in the house, but I still occasionally CRAVE some of those junk food type things --- especially this time of year!

For the past few mornings, I have been CRAVING sweets, so I whipped up this little number and it INSTANTLY satisfied that sweet tooth!

Pumpkin Pie Shakeology! YUM!

Superfoods that taste like PIE?!

Give it a go --- it's seriously scrumptious!
  • 1 scoop vanilla Shakeology
  • 1 cup water or almond milk
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1 tsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 tbsp rough chopped pecans
  • 1 cup ice
  • BLEND!

For my fixers:
1 red
1/2 purple
1/2 blue
1/2 yellow

Core De Force: Week One Reveiw

WOW! One week is OFFICIALLY done from Core De Force, and let me tell you --- I am a BELIEVER.

I will be the first to admit, I was a true skeptic --- I love lifting weights; cardio is NOT my thing.

But after one week, I am officially putting the weights back on the rack and TRUSTING the process of this body weight resistance workout.

After one week, I am down TWO pounds and I am down a 1/2 inch off of my waist! CRAZY!! I will take my FINAL measurements at the 30 day mark, but I was feeling smaller and I had to bust out the tape measure a BIT early for my waist :)

While these workouts are a bit longer than what I have been used to, they are testing me in ways that I never imagined and I am working my muscles in a WHOLE new way.

Here are my thoughts on the workouts completed so far:

Day One -- MMA Speed 
I had done this workout as a sneak peek and it was still challenging on day one. This workout was all about punches and kicks. My shoulders and back were on fire the next day. 27 minutes long and I was DRENCHED at the end.

Day Two --- Dynamic Strength

I always watch a new workout the day before --- I put it on in the background as I'm doing dishes, etc. And this workout intimidated me. It was 47 minutes long and it was low impact, but HIGH intensity. A ton of different variations on pushups --- and my core was burning the whole time. 12 rounds of body resistance will do that to you!

Day Three --- MMA Speed
I welcomed the familiarity of this workout and I was able to push HARDER through the 6 rounds. Since the moves started to become more natural, I was able to really develop them and get an incredible burn and sweat in.

Day Four --- Power Sculpt

Matt joined me for this workout and it was AWESOME!! Lots of body weight resistance and it left both of us DRENCHED at the end!

Day Five --- MMA Shred
This format was similar to MMA Speed, but a little longer of a workout at 36 minutes. It was an amazing burn and I am already surprised at my stamina as we go through the three minute rounds. They introduced elbows and snap kicks in this workout --- and I am STILL shocked at how my muscles are reacting!

Day Six --- Dynamic Strength
This workout was just as hard the second time --- but I was able to do more pushups and modify less. I was able to engage my core more and do some of the advanced moves --- sphynx pushups WILL be mastered by me!

Day Seven --- Active Recover

Lunch -- Turkey Burger, Balsamic Asparagus, Feta
I was SO excited for this workout --- 21 minutes long and so needed after a great week of workouts. For the first half, it is a slowed down kicks and punches which let me really focus on form. Then, 10 minutes of much needed stretching!

All in all, the workouts have been challenging, but not to the point of frustration. Joel and Jericho do an AMAZING job at breaking down the moves and the modifier is TOP NOTCH! Love it so far and I am ready to tackle week two!

Now, we all know that the results that I am experiencing are TRULY coming from my nutrition! You can't out work a bad diet!

The meal plan is very similar to the 21 Day Fix meal plan and it is second nature to me to just do this meal plan, no questions asked. One thing that I made sure to do was put a protein in the stretch between lunch and dinner for a snack --- it keeps me less hangry and hen EVERYONE is happy ;)

Banana Apple Muffins

I am ALWAYS on the hunt for a GOOD snack that is healthy, kid approved, and easy on the carbs ;)
When I discovered these apple banana muffins, I thought they were too good to be true! They hit the spot for a sweet tooth and are just plain YUMMY!

2 large eggs lightly beaten

1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 medium bananas)
1 tbsp organic butter, melted
1 1/2 cups almond flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 dash sea salt
1/2 cup chopped apple


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Prepare nine muffin cups by lining with muffin tin liners.
  3. Combine eggs, banana, and butter in a medium bowl; mix well. Set aside.
  4. Combine the almond flower, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl; mix well.
  5. Add almond meal mixture to egg mixture; mix until blended.
  6. Add apple; mix until just blended.
  7. Divide batter evenly between prepared muffin cups.
  8. Bake 16-18 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Transfer muffins to rack; cool.
  10. 2 large eggs, lightly beaten

Yields 9 muffins
Container Equivalents: 1 purple, 1 blue for one muffin

Core De Force

I am so excited for the launch of Beachbody's newest program --- Core De Force. This MMA inspired program is sure to whittle your waist, tone your arms, and torch calories -- all in 30 minutes a day!

All it took was one workout to 'hook' me to know that this will shred out my midsection!

Zucchini Pizzas

The other night I didn't know what to make for dinner --- and I didn't have the heart to tell Matt that eggs were on the menu... again! (other mamas will relate to this!)

I always have zucchini on hand -- it's quick and easy!

So I whipped us up some zucchini pizzas --- and they were GREAT!! Matt and Charlie inhaled them and they have made a couple more appearances ;)

Here is what you will need:

  • Several zucchini, sliced thin (I used a mandolin slicer)
  • cooking spray
  • mozzarella
  • pizza sauce
  • pizza toppings of choice (I used turkey sausage)
Here is what you do:
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. lay zucchini on a sprayed cookie sheet.
  3. bake for 10 minutes
  4. remove and add pizza sauce and toppings
  5. bake an additional 10 minutes
  6. Enjoy!

Baked Oatmeal Muffins

I think all of us love a good muffin, right? I remember in college splurging (daily) on a blueberry muffin from the coffee shop on campus --- they were just so delicious!

Now that I am a clean eater and really careful about the food that I put in my body, I am always on the lookout for a muffin recipe that isn't loaded in extra sugar and doesn't leave me feeling guilty after eating it!

I found this recipe on the Beachbody Blog and I instantly knew I had to try it. I just started 22 Minute Hard Corps and the meal plan with the program has me eating TWO yellow (carb) containers for breakfast. I had been eating steel cut oats with fruit, but then I bought non-instant ---- and this busy mom just does NOT have time to wait for stove top oats!

This recipe is great! It allows you to customize the toppings you add on top and the muffins are not dry at all. They are sweet and hearty; just like oatmeal, but without the added sugar.

I am able to make these ahead of time and have them ready to go all week --- which is even better!

I hope that you enjoy them as much as I have!

Ingredients: (makes 12 muffins)
  • Coconut Oil
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large bananas mashed, or 2 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tablespoon raw honey
  • 2 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk
  • toppings of your choice: berries, chocolate chips, pure maple syrup, nuts, etc
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat muffin tin with coconut oil.
  2. Combine eggs, vanilla, bananas and honey in a large bowl. Mash bananas and mix well. Set aside.
  3. Combine oats, cinnamon and baking powder in a small bowl, stir well and combine with banana mixture.
  4. Stir in almond milk and mix well.
  5. Divide oatmeal evenly between prepared muffin cups and add toppings of your choice.
  6. Bake 26 to 30 minutes or until brown.
  7. ENJOY!
According to the Beachbody Blog, each muffin counts for 1/2 a yellow and 1/2 a purple --- doesn't get much better than that! :) If you add chocolate chips/nuts; be sure to factor that into your container allotment!

What is 22 Minute Hard Corps?

22 Minute Hard Corps is Beachbody's NEWEST program directly from fitness guru, Tony Horton!

I will be 100% honest with you --- I was not going to do this program. I LOVE to lift weights and strength train! BUT as a mom of two little ones under the age of 3, time is of the essence ;)

So why did I choose to go all in on this program?

  • The workouts are all 22 minutes long. (hello no brainer!)
  • The results from the test group were PHENOMENAL!
  • There is a built in rest and recovery day (Sundays are always meant for family!)
  • I need a change of pace
  • My husband is committing to the 60 days with me!
  • The nutrition is EASY. 
Yesterday, Matt and I began our Hard Corps journey together. We meal planned and prepped and we totally rocked day one! The nutrition plan follows closely to the same logic as the 21 Day Fix, but there is one main difference. For me, it was always difficult to determine WHERE to place my containers throughout the day. In Hard Corps, Tony tells me EXACTLY what containers to have at each meal. I get to pick what goes in them, but he has told me what food groups to eat. It has truly taken the guesswork out; which is GREAT.

Here is my week one meal plan. As a nursing mama, it is really important to me to keep my milk supply up, so while I still have a few pregnancy pounds to lose, I am in the "very active" category to maintain my supply. IF I fee like my supply drops, I up my calories. Know that this meal plan can be catered for YOU! While Matt is in a totally different bracket than me, we still eat the same meals --- he just has more :)

Kale Chips

Who else is a potato chip lover?! I seriously cannot even keep them in the house because I will eat an entire bag, in one sitting, by myself. I have no self control!

Enter Kale Chips into my life --- the crunch, the salt, with none of the icky icky ingredients, calories, or grease!!

These are kid and husband approved --- and often requested! Super easy, quick, and a no brainer in my opinion!


  • Kale
  • sea salt
  • olive oil (or olive oil spray)
  • parmesan cheese
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Strip kale off of stems and break into bite size pieces, wash and dry thoroughly.
  3. Spread out kale over baking sheet.
  4. Drizzle with olive oil or spray with olive oil spray.
  5. Sea salt to taste.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are brown
  7. Top with parmesan cheese!
  8. Enjoy!

How to COMEBACK After You Lose Your Steam

So 2016 came --- and like many of you, I have BIG resolutions for the New Year, right? We usually do great for a couple of weeks, and then we start to lose steam. Life gets in the way. We lose our vision, right?

My January was one of the CRAZIEST months of my life and I totally let it derail me! I was having AMAZING success using The Master's Hammer and Chisel and we were just about halfway through the program when I had to travel for 10 days.

THAT is when things started to fall apart.

I could go on and on about the excuses and why I stopped working out, why I felt defeated ---- but I won't! Because that won't make me MOVE forward!

February is a BRAND new month to really take control. I'm dubbing it my COMEBACK month. I hit the workout hard yesterday and today and I plan on making February GREAT. I am worth every workout, meal, and sacrifice. My goals are now BIGGER than my excuses.

The first step to recommit to your goal is to do just that --- recommit! Put the plans back into motion. Then, you have to figure out HOW you are going to make it happen. A priority!
